Dr. S. Sreedeep

Professor, IIT Guwahati

I passed out from Government Engineering College, Kannur (GCEK) in 1998 with a B. tech. degree in Civil Engineering. Currently, I am working as a Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering, IIT Guwahati. I joined IIT Guwahati in the year 2006 after completing my M. tech. and Ph. D. from IIT Bombay. I profoundly remember my association with GCEK during 1994-1998, which has given me rich professional and personal experiences worth remembering always. The association has taught me several valuable lessons, that has helped me a lot in shaping up my career. One of the lessons is how to work with what is available. This according to me is extremely important while working with limited resources. The experience has gone a long way in developing a sense of responsibility and taking initiative with full confidence. Self-learning is another valuable attitude that I inculcated which has helped me a lot in my research career ahead. We enjoyed a very cordial atmosphere with utmost support from faculty members at GCEK. The personal interactions, which I had with my batch mates, seniors and juniors are wonderful memories which I still cherish. Since then I have witnessed the growth of GCEK in a highly positive manner. I had some opportunities to interact with faculty members and students of GECK on some occasions. I have seen that the overall attitude of the institute is different from the other Engineering colleges. The institute is trying to set up research avenues as well. This according to me is a highly motivating atmosphere for the students to excel in their career. I will be happy to get associated with GCEK in whatever possible manner I can. I wish a bright and fruitful growth of the institute in the days to come. Sincerely,

I had a splendid experience as a student of the Department of Civil Engineering at Govt. College of Engineering, Kannur and proud to say that I belong to this wonderful family of GCEK. The values instilled in me by the institution carved me a better individual and made me to achieve my goals. Knowledge gained at GCEK is instrumental in shaping me as an efficient engineer. Right now I am placed as an Aerospace Scientist in Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA)-Bangalore, Under Ministry of Defence, Govt. of India. I am happy and proud that I am part of prestigious national programmes, Design and Development of Light Combat Aircraft (LCA-TEJAS) and Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) in ADA-Bangalore.
Over the many years since its inception I have seen the college grow from strength to strength in all the areas of its operation. The dedicated and enthusiastic faculties have always kept the student's interests in mind and created an environment where learning is fun, intensive and industry oriented. I take this opportunity to thank all my teachers and staff of Govt. College of Engineering, Kannur.
I wish continued success to the college and current students who I am sure will find great careers in their chosen professional area.

"GCEK is the place from where we got the best of our college life. The campus and its ambience helped us to nurture our natural passion. The freedom provided by GCEK to all the students motivated us to explore the best of our abilities and encouraged us to chase our dreams. The best of GCEK is its ability to build friendship and camaraderie among all the students. I am sure that this tradition is continuing and the bondage is growing stronger through generations."

Arathi P

Assistant Director Sports Authority of India Lakshmibai National College of Physical Education Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala

I am Arathi. P, currently working as Assistant Director at Sports Authority of India. I lived in GCEK from 2010 to 2014 and become a graduate in electrical and electronics engineering. I used the word ‘lived in’ in the real sense. 4 years in GCEK have made me what I am today. GCEK is a full package of knowledge as well as experience which is always guiding me in my personal and professional life. Association with GCEK has taught me several valuable lessons and how to face challenges, and how and when to take decisions, being an administrator these experiences help me to work today. During my education in GCEK, I was elected as the Vice Chairperson of Kannur University union which was a turning point in my life where I got the opportunity to meet students and people from various sections of the society. It helped me to decide on my career.
Being an alumina of GCEK is always an added advantage for me. Whenever I introduce myself as an alumina of GCEK while meeting someone, they always have some experience to share about their association with GCEK. GECK being a professional college has always shown its commitment to society and it helped the institute to root among people. I will be happy and grateful to continue my connection with GCEK in whatever manner it is possible, and always being proud to be an alumina of GCEK.
